Why did you join your firm? Associates say…
“My firm offered a great opportunity to better align my practice with the type of work I wanted to do, and to be part of a small team in my area of law that is growing. This seemed like an incredible chance to work closely with partners and take on responsibility above what I would have been able to elsewhere as a new associate.”
“Greater opportunities to work with larger, national clients and to engage in litigation.”
“Big Law salary, interesting work, and desire for mentorship.”

Sustainability & CSR
The view from the firm: Hunton Andrews Kurth actively promotes environmental sustainability policies. We have a Green Committee, as well as Green Ambassadors in each of our offices, charged with proactively identifying potential operational improvements and sustainability initiatives. We seek positive results through understanding our footprint; engaging our personnel; offering educational programming and resources promoting sustainability practices; collaborating with clients, vendors and others; rewarding firm members whose sustainability suggestions are implemented; benchmarking our firm’s practices against our peers through the Ecovadis Sustainability Assessment process; tracking and reporting progress; encouraging and participating in positive environmental practices by peers, clients and other external organizations; and celebrating our successes as motivation for continued progress.
Some of our initiatives include: (1) Reducing energy and product consumption by using automatic light switches, water taps, and energy efficient appliances, using modified heating and cooling systems that automatically turn off supplemental air on weekends. (2) Promoting and sponsoring an annual firmwide e-cycling program that offers e-cycling of both office and personal equipment and electronics. (3) Recycling waste products by participating in programs offered by building management companies that recycle paper, cans or plastic bottles. (4) Utilizing electronic communication methods whenever possible to minimize the use of paper products and the carbon footprint associated with mail delivery. (5) Recycling or donating obsolete equipment after proper sanitization to avoid disposal after a single use. (6) Purchasing post-consumer recycled items. (7) Reducing the use of paper and Styrofoam cups in our offices in favor of glass or ceramic or recycled paper products. (8) Encouraging employees to work electronically, rather than printing documents, and to print double-sided whenever possible. (9) Contracting with vendors to adopt environmentally friendly practices, such as using green cleaning supplies and reusable crates instead of boxes for office moves. (10) Incorporating green-friendly renovation and construction methods when upgrading or establishing additional offices, whenever possible. (11) Participating in community events to recycle and share gently used clothing and cleanup of public areas.
