Naturally many firms identify with more than one category: Davis Polk is in the elite both globally and in New York; whereas Cravath, Sullivan or Debevoise, although well known internationally, have smaller networks and New York truly is where their nerve-centers are; then the British elite magic circle firms have greater global strength than most US firms, but wouldn't be considered top-tier in New York alone.
